Relax: Nevus spilus does not cause anything. Adult hearing loss is 1 of many "associated" findings suggesting some increased frequency of certain things among those with nevus spilus. These associations are not cause and effect. Adult hearing loss is very common and any association with nevus spilus is probably coincidental.

Misunderstanding: There's a genetic syndrome in which huge nevus spilus birthmarks follow dermatomes, and affected kids are prone to also have hearing loss (euphemism for born-hard-of-hearing), Ebstein's anomly of the heart, and some other stuff. It's vanishingly rare. I found a website that quotes information on this syndrome confusingly. It won't cause hearing loss. Stop worrying.
