May be: Some one screaming once in a while should not cause hearing loss. Most often progressive hearing loss occurs due to constant noise at the same frequency and high decibel levels. Occupations that are prone airport personnel on the field, jackhammers, rock concerts- sounds ranging above 90 db. It is hard to predict who are prone and how long it may take. Playing instrument in a band on a regular bas.

Noise: The playing of an instrument may not cause hearing loss, but exposure to noise from the surrounding brass instruments, if loud enough, can lead to high frequency hearing loss. I do not think there is any evidence to prove that playing an instrument will slow down hearing loss.
