RICE sprain therapy: Ankle sprains are best treated with Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. You can add an over the counter anti-inflammatory as well. If symptoms persist or are getting worse after a week, see your primary care physician or orthopaedic surgeon. Xrays may be indicated if there is focal bo t tenderness over the bone.
