Ankle Sprain: You may have a moderate to severe ankle sprain, which can require some form of immobilization (with or without nonweightweight bearing protocol) for 6 to 8 weeks or sometimes even surgery (if it does not heal on its own). Please see a reputable ankle specialist ASAP.

Sprained ankle: Ankle sprains are graded based on damage done - with grade 1 being the mildest. Was it x-rayed?? - generally ankle injuries resolve with RICE (rest ice compression and elevation) within several days. what area of the ankle is tender?? lateral pain may be worrisome for either an avulsion fracture or tendon damage. Probably time to see a physician about this.

Wear an ankle: Brace. If you are not, then you potentially are not allowing proper healing. I would also continue to ice that ankle.
