Sometimes i need a little push to get a bm started. is this considered straining or normal to have to push a little. i don't push during bm.

Don't push too: hard. That's how hemorrhoids are formed. I would add a daily fiber supplement so there will be no need to push. Also, make sure you are taking in fluids daily. A little dehydration can cause your body to reabsorb fluid out of the stool,making it hard and more difficult to pass.

Push to start. : While repeated difficulties passing stool and excessive predictable straining may suggest a problem, an occasional little push wouldn't normally suggest that something is wrong. Just make sure in the long term that your intake of fluid and water is accurate.
