Hi, will a cardiologist prescribe xanax or ativan for svt? i've been very anxious since my heart went into svt, i'm not sure what's causing this?

Not necessarily.: SVT is very common (it is the most common arrhythmia), & could have many different causes. If you didn't have an anxiety disorder before the diagnosis, chances are that anxiety isn't causing this problem. Thyroid issues, heart issues, infections, malignancies can cause this problem. Ativan/Xanax are NOT treatments for SVT - they can make the problem worse. Propranolol may help. Use HealthTap Prime
