Can a bruit come and go? my rheumatologist heard it in routine exam, however, my vascular ultrasound was normal. i am not even sure if a bruit exists.

Bruit is a: turbulence in the blood flow that passes through a narrowed vessel. Typically in the neck is where you hear them, but they can appear any where if there is a medium to large size vessel, typically an artery. A bruit in the heart is called a murmur. If you had a vascular ultrasound that was normal, I would not pay too much attention unless another doctor can hear the same recurrent sound.

Carotid brut: bruits are a sound which may represent a narrowing of blood vessel however an ultrasound is much more definitive and if n abnormality is found you can ely on that test
