Some possibilities..: One usually sees the doctor again in such a situation. Possibilities include: a problem is not bacterial so the antibiotic would not work, there is an ABSCESS somewhere which is hard for the oral antibiotic to get into, the illness is bacterial but the bacteria is resistant to the antibiotic being taken, the antibiotic is counterfeit (in foreign countries), the antibiotic dose is too small, etc..
