Mixed up: Methacholine challenge test MCT, is different from spirometry, 12 % increase in PEFR or FEV1 after bronchodilator administration is indicative of airway bronchospasm that responded to bronchodilation, it can aid in the diagnosis of asthma, which is mainly a clinical diagnosis. Criteria for asthma diagnosis on MCT are different, the test is cumbersome and not commonly used to diagnose asthma
