Yes: A mcct can help to evaluate for asthma but is not 100% accurate especially if you are having symptoms. There are other tests or possibly just trying therapy for a short period of time to see if there is a noticeable improvement. Also look into something known as cough variant asthma.

It is possible : Traditionally methacholine challenge negativity was termed as a gold standard result suggestive of absent asthma. However if the test was done while you were on asthma treatment ( inhalers etc) changes the equation . In that context it could be a false negative test result . There are no diagnostic "cellular" changes in bronch due o asthma though high eosinophil count could be seen . Talk to doc.
