A member asked:

Is it normal to always wake up with stiff muscles and sore back?

No: A common cause is osteoarthritis which is a wear and tear phenomenon seen in older people but not in your age group. Your symptoms could be due to other types of arthritis, autoimmune disease, poor pillows, poor mattress, etc. Once you're up and about you are probably ok and this would point away from inflammatory conditions. A physician or rheumatologist could evaluate and advise you.

No : Depends on your work and the status of your back. Your muscles, bones etc. Check with your physician or see a chiropractor for evaluation treatment and possible massage therapy.

No it is not: Unless you have issues with the type of bed or pillows you are sleeping on, it is not normal to wake up with muscle stiffness and soreness. Please see your GP for a thorough evaluation and further management
