NSAID's: For over the counter non narcotic pain medication one of the best to help control pain from sciatica is ibuprofen. It not only is a good analgesic but also provides anti inflammatory properties which can reduce primary source of pain.

Other meds: Aside from otc meds the non-narcotic options include membrane stabilizers such as Neurontin (gabapentin) or lyrica, (pregabalin) prescription anti-inflammatories such as Mobic (meloxicam) or celebrex, and tramadol (a non-narcotic pain med). Unfortunately all other pain meds are narcotics. Cymbalta would also be a medication option. Keep in mind that any long term medication treatment is not ideal.

Lots: Narcotics don't work we'll for sciatic pain anyway so even more reason to want something else. Drugs to treat depression and others like Lyrica (pregabalin) and Gabapentin work great for this neuropathic pain. Gabapentin is a slow titration up because it can be sedating until your body gets used to it.
