DVT pain is chronic: Unfortunately, your physician may be correct. A DVT, especially one that causes obstruction, causes permanent changes in the veins and results in poor drainage of the blood from the extremities. Also, the veins are often chronically inflamed, contributing to the pain. Sometimes a stent can be placed in a vein that is collapsing but may not be an option. Ask to see a vascular surgeon for options.
