New collagen: and connective tissues "knit" together the injured area; initially these tissues are less elastic than connective tissue which has been in place and moving constantly along with you and your body (arms, legs, trunk, etc). Slowly, as the new connective tissues organize they will become more elastic. It is just another feature of the miracle that is the functioning human body! Stay well:)
