Tetanus incubation: Tetanus can develop anywhere from 3 days to 3 weeks after an exposure. We think of the 'rusty nail' as the paradigm of exposure, but it can come from any break in the skin with contamination by the tetanus spores - which are found EVERYWHERE, not just barn yards and dirt piles. The best thing to do is get vaccinated against tetanus. You can see an ID doctor if it becomes more complicated than that
