? Viral: The antibiotics will take care of the strep infection, if given the right dose and the right choice, however, your child can have a viral infection as well, or another cause for fever. Antibiotics aren't antipyretics, (not meant to reduce fever) so kindly take your child to his/her doctor for re-evaluation and continue the antibiotic, best wishes
