Sometimes: the allergic reaction involving skin is DELAYED however if previously "sensitized" (exposed to the allergen with a delayed response in the past) the reaction can not only be immediate it can involve the airways and result in a dangerous reaction (anaphylaxis) ! Hope this is helpful Dr Z
