Abuse alcohol though and you're asking for chronic pancreatitis, a confusingly-named lifetime severe pain syndrome involving damage to the deep nerves of the area. Yes, : Indeed it is know that besides gall bladder problems excessive alcohol consumption could cause chronic pancreatitis that could evolve in pancreatic cancer. Other factors are cigarette smoking and genetics, excessive fatty foods and type 2 diabetes can induce this type of cancer. It is more prevalent in males and the treatment is not the best of course the sooner the detection the better.
