Brush it: Discoloration of the tongue can have many causes. Some are from taking certain medications such as steroid inhalers, antibiotics, and other medications. Smoking or eating strongly colored food can affect the tongue. The stain can usually be controlled with brushing of the tongue or use a tongue scrapping device. If the problem persists or changes in coloration are noted, see your surgeon.

Normal healing: You are only 6 days post-surgery. Not unusual as you continue to heal to still have some discomfort. Should be a little less every day. Tongue can discolor from foods, allergic responses, fungal overgrowth as antibiotics subdue bacteria, and a black-and-blue mark in the surgical area. If you are concerned about anything at all, see your Surgeon for post-Rx reevaluation.
