Chest tightness: Chest tightness can be a symptom of heart disease but may be may other things such as aortic problems, respiratory disorders (asthma, COPD, bronchitis, lung collapse, infections), esophageal spasms, and muscle problems to name a few. It really depends on the clinical situation and other symptoms you may be having. Depending on the duration it would be worth seeing a doctor.

See your doctor.: From your description, there could be many causes of your chest tightness. Because heart disease happens to be one of those possibilities, you need to be seen ASAP by either your doctor or in an emergency room, to be sure that you were not having angina. If heart disease turns out not to be present, your doctor can help you sort out what the true cause is. Do not delay. Go now.
