Lump: Sinus infection usually does not cause swelling of roof of mouth. More probably a tooth or gum infection requiring antibiotics, not steroids, and hands-on dental treatment. Please see your Dentist for an examination. Your Dentist and Physician may want to consult with each other.

Spreading infection?: If the doctor who prescribed the prednisone was aware of the lump and didn't think it important, take it as directed plus your antbiotic(s). If it is new since then, or you think the doc is unaware, contact her office. (It's the weekend, but someone will be covering.) Possibly sinus infection burrowing through your palate, which could be serious. Maybe no danger, but don't take the chance.
