I have this habit of shaking my legs when i'm sitting down and when i want to sleep; if i dont shake them i wont be able to sleep. is this normal?

Yes it's normal: You have developed a habit. It is not harmful to you, but you may come upon a day in which you need to change the habit - such as the day you interrupt the sleep of another with it. You CAN sleep without the leg shaking, but will have to adjust to it.
