MostColdsAreViral: Most colds and sinus congestions are caused bu viruses and are self limited and dont require any Antibiotics. It is treated symptomatically and other times does not require any treatment. But if the symptoms get worse with green or yellow nasal discharge, high fever, headache and cough, then you consult your Doctor and your Doctor will decide if you do or do not need Antibiotics

Virus?: From the brief symptoms you gave it sounds more like a viral infection for which antibiotics will not help. Symptomatic treatment would include phenylephrine as a decongestant and antihistamines which are over the counter. Ibuprofen and panadol will also help. Rest fluids vitamin c and garlic pills may also help. Unfortunately no magic bullet. If not getting better in a few days, see your Dr.

Usually no: This kind of illness, although very unpleasant is almost always caused by a virus that your body will be able to clear by itself. Viruses are not killed by antibiotics. We try to avoid giving antibiotics unless there is a very good reason because otherwise you're more likely to get the side effects without any benefit. Treat aches with over the counter pain relief, stay hydrated, get rest.
