Patellofemoral pain?: This could be pain from the patellofemoral joint as it's under greater stress when the knee is flexed, particularly when sitting. Quadriceps tendinitis is possible but less likely. Finally, nerve pain referred from the low back can present on the front of the knee and discs are under greater stress when sitting. Tendonitis: Many possibilities, certainly one possibility would be a Tendonitis of the quadriceps tendon would be one likely possibility. The quad tendon is right above the patella and symptoms of Tendonitis in the quad tendon are worse with the knee in flexion because that puts the most stress on the tendon. Don't hesitate to be seen for an accurate diagnosis and to discuss treatment options.
