One possibility is: some nerve injury at the time of surgery...An ER visit is probably not indicated unless you are having a problem breathing. ("swollen" feeling is DUE to the numbness) Hope this is helpful Dr Z

Mgt: A swollen tongue may obstruct breathing, and you should be evaluated immediately.
