A member asked:

Why don't more anal fissures get infected? you'd think it would happen constantly, but it doesn't. is it bc it's our own bacteria?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Terminology changes: "Anal fissures" do get infected, but terminology then changes--e.g. An infected anal fissure often results in an "anal abscess."
