Irregular menses: You may have had break through bleeding or this could have even been an early period. Changes in hormones can cause menstrual irregularities.

DUB: It is called dysfunctional uterine bleeding related to abnormal changes in hormone levels. I presume you are not pregnant and not on contraceptives, but check a pregnancy test if this is possible. This altered bleeding is likely caused by unexpected variations in your body's hormones, stress, altered sleep, illness, etc. If persists another cycle or so, a doctor evaluation is needed.
