No: Environmental allergies are usually diagnosed by clinical examination. Blood tests for allergy are controversial. Testing for specific IgE (allergic antibody) levels, if skin testing is unavailable, may reveal specific sensitivities to guide allergen avoidance strategies. Skin testing has clear benefits with regard to predictive value. There is no role for blood IgG testing.

No: Many allergy medications are over the counter and can be taken safely without a prescription or a consult with a physician. however, if you would like to know exactly what in the environment you are allergic to, you will need to see an allergy doctor.
