Unlikely: Ultrasound is very effective in picking up hollow (or solid) cysts, organs, tissue. Varicoceles are dilated tortuous blood vessels & seen easily in scrotum which is external.

Not really: A clinically significant varicocele will show up on u/s. In fact, most large varicoceles are palpable and do not require confirmation by u/s.
