A member asked:

Husbands bilirubin went from 1.7 to 5 in a month. alt ast evevated but about the same. he drinks, has mild cirrhosis. why a big change so quick?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

De-compensation: If you husband has cirrhosis and he keeps drinking, the liver is getting more damage and can no longer cope with the demands of the body. It is imperative that your husband see a doctor and quit taking alcohol. He should not take Tylenol either.
