A member asked:

Fasting b12 at 1099 (range 200-1100) take 12mcg daily but not on the day of the b12 test. is my b12 elevated due to supplementation or another reason?

Not elevated: You're high-normal. This means you have a lot of the binding protein which is good. Reference ranges are set so that a few percent of healthies actually are "above notmal." Stop worrying about this and be glad -- back in the old days, the illness that we now recognize as B12 deficiency was a miserable, lingering death. High B12 without other obvious disease in the labs is never worrisome.

No concern: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, your B12 level is not a cause for concern. You may consult this site for information on this topic: https://medlineplus.gov/ency/article/003705.htm For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex, if you have sex.
