Who said you were?: You would be contagious if you have an active case of pink eye or conjunctivitis (eye would be red with mucous discharge) or you would have a bad cold or sinus infection. It is possible to have bacteria in one's nose or eyes that can be determined by a nose or eye culture but no evidence of active illness, and this would be referred to as a "carrier." Pink eye carrier is not a common diagnosis
