Yes: If the flow is very heavy it is not the ideal time to do a pap smear, but the liquid based pap smears that nearly everyone uses now are very good at clearing out the blood to get an accurate reading. Sometimes the bleeding is the problem and waiting for it to stop is not even realistic.
