Reasonable concern: Chest pain can be a symptom of heart disease but may be may other things such as esophageal spasms, great vessel disease, respiratory disorders (asthma, COPD, bronchitis, infections), and muscle problems to name a few. It really depends on the clinical situation and other symptoms you may be having. It may be of a serious nature and you should discuss it with your doctor.

Better safe / sorrry: If you have chest discomfort which lasts for more than a few minutes and is concerning to you, you should seek immediate medical attention. Chest pain occurring with exertion is more likely to represent a cardiac condition. There are many causes of chest pain and some are not serious but coronary syndromes and pulmonary emboli can be fatal so please get checked out right away.
