Is iv versed helpful during minor surgery for pain relief?

No : Versed is a benzodiazepine that's main function is to reduce anxiety and has amnesic properties (you wont remember the procedure). However, usually it is given in combination with fentanyl which is a narcotic used for pain control. Hope this helps!
