I need to decrease my ldl (124) and ldl-p (>1500) - it has been slowly moving up the past 3 years. i am 60. pls suggest the best natl way to improve.

Both these numbers: represent borderline high risk for future cardiac/other vascular disease; they should respond to diet/lifestyle. I recommend the Mediterranean diet: majority of calories and protein (soy, fish) from plant-based foods, moderate fat intake from olive/canola oils and nuts/almonds. MAINTAIN IDEAL WEIGHT. Dietary fiber (oat bran, flaxseed) will reduce chol absorption; try plant stanol spread.
