Get Seen ASAP!: Any new headache that is unlike any you have had before, and any headache severe enough to wake you up is concerning. Please call your MD. It may be nothing, but it could be something serious. Here is a page about what headaches need urgent and emergent evaluation. Some say that headaches that wake you up can be emergent.
