No: There can be quite a bit of variation in free t4 levels in the first month of life, but values of t4 below 7.0 with TSH over 40 are highly suggestive of congenital hypothyroidism, which requires thyroid intervention to provide normal mental and physical growth. Your infants values are well above that. Close monitoring of growth should be reassuring, but your doctor may choose to repeat values.
