All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, total T4 is affected by serum levels of thyroxine binding protein. Higher levels result in high total T4 but free T4, the active form, may be normal. Wish you good health!
