A member asked:

I was wondering if a person can donate their own cornea while still living? and if so would that person then become blind?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No/yes: I cannot imagine a setting where a reputable eye surgeon would remove a cornea from a living donor.Such a surgery would blind that patient & cause an opening in the eyeball that could quickly become infected & lead to death.
