A member asked:

Can you still fly a plane if you go blind in one eye?

Yes: A pilot can apply for a medical certificate under a "special issuance" procedure (a waiver of the requirement that each eye must have at least 20/20 or 20/40 vision, with glasses or contact lenses if needed). The federal aviation administration (faa) evaluates the requests for waivers on a case-by-case basis.

Yes, but this is evaluated by the FAA on a case-by-case basis. We have pilots with one eye, pilots with no legs (look up Douglas Bader, flying ace), pilots with no arms (look up Jessica Cox, pilot), etc. Mind you, these are exceptional people.
