Yes: Ovulation (releasing an egg) is necessary for pregnancy. Irregular periods are, generally speaking, an indication that you're not ovulating, or at least not regularly and, therefore, getting pregnant will be much harder. Fortunately, there are a number of things that can be done to help women with irregularity to ovulate and achieve pregnancy. See your obgyn.

Irregular periods: Irregular periods also usually means irregular ovulation. Irregular ovulation is a problem because you have fewer chances per year to get pregnant, you do not know when to have sex to get pregnant, and sometimes ovulation can be months apart. Fortunately, we have good and inexpensive medications to help. Your doc will also want to check for other problems. Best wishes.
