Maybe earwax problem: Sometimes a person with a lump of earwax in her ear canal will get water and earwax touching her eardrum. If the water or wet earwax isn't able to come out of the ear canal, her hearing will sound muffled. In such a situation, a person can call her primary care doctor for an appointment the next day, to have her ear examined.
