A member asked:

For a 85 yr old person with sodium level in blood 125 and who is under medical treatment in hospital, how long will it take to be normal.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on cause.: If the patient has an iv, with added sodium, often the level can return to normal fairly quickly, often in a few hours. However, if some disease process has caused loss of sodium it may take longer, drop again or require additional medication, teeatment. Dis cuss the underlying cause(s) with the patient's treating physician.
