I was looking into starting the hiv prevention medication prep?

Preventing HIV: This is a very good idea, according to experts who see HIV patients. You DEFINITELY do not want to contract that - it's a life changing infection with treatment but NO CURE. I've seen many lives ruined by it... There are bright spots though - and absolutely you should talk to your doc about all of it. You may need an ID doc or HIV specialist to put you on PrEP, since you need to be monitored on it

HIV prevention works: Taking a daily medication to prevent HIV infection is called Pre-Exposure Prevention. Anyone who has risk for HIV infection should consider whether PrEP is right for them. You can find a list of resources on the website www.pleaseprepme.org
