A member asked:

19yo son has lymph edema in his leg:blockage from catheter used for a heart cath as a newborn. extreme pain now. ideas? waiting for pt authorization.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Treatment: designed to either prevent or reduce the swelling associated with lymphedema may include manual lymph drainage, gentle massage and light exercises, gentle range-of-motion exercises to help stimulate the lymphatic system. Consider compression bandages or garments (e.g., stockings) to help prevent additional fluid from accumulating in the tissue. Elevating the limb may also help.
