Blood pressure : Acceptable level of BP depends on age and what other medical problems someone has . 134/95 is definitely high . Please see your GP so they can recheck your BP , check your cholesterol, sugars and do your cardiovascular risk assessment ( access risk of heart attack and stroke ) and decide further management for you .

Possible to improve: Yes, this reading is a bit high and it would be good to improve it. This kind of BP causes trouble over time, not in the short term. Often the best way to improve BP is by losing some weight and getting more regular exercise. Not necessarily as easy as it sounds but it is doable!

Blood pressure: The diastolic value is higher . Ideally 120/80 is considered normal . But systolic < 140 and < 90 will be a normal range. It is also age dependent and the ideal acceptable is also dependent on other co morbidities like Diabeties .

See your GP : Although this BP reading is higher than optimal a couple of points need to be considered. Firstly we never treat BP on a one off reading, it needs to be high over time. Secondly in NZ BP treatment is based on your overall risk of cardiovascular disease. Your GP can calculate this for you. Treatment starts with weight loss and exercise and dietary advice before moving to meds. Discuss with your GP
