I hit a raccoon with my car and touched the piece that hit it. i didn't have any open wounds and immediately used purell. could i have rabies?

No: The most common mode of rabies transmission is through the bite and virus-containing saliva of an infected animal. Rarely transmission has been documented through contamination of mucous membranes (eyes, nose, mouth), through air/aerosol transmission, or organ transplantation. No worries with brief touch of intact skin with unknown status animal. Stay well:)

Rabies risk: Rabies is not transmitted from a raccoon through blood, urine, feces or touchintg it. It is transmitted by saliva.
