About eating veggies: In normal, healthy people, carotenemia is the NORMAL coloring their skin develops when they eat lots of carotene-containing veggies such as carrots, squash, and sweet potatoes. When a doctor sees a child with carotene coloring, he knows the child is eating a good amount of veggies. If a patient already has liver disease, he can ask his doctor if carotene coloring is part of his individual problem.
