TMD: This is due to grinding or bruxism at night..... Large % of the population suffers from tmd causes could be anything from stress, malocclusion, obstructive sleep apnea, closed envelope of function... Sere a general dentist to check for all of the above.

Trismus: You may have muscle trismus, which can afflict people who grind, clench, and had their mouths opened wide for a while during extensive dental treatment. Consult with your dentist as to your therapy options.

TMD ?: This might be related to muscle spasm or trismus; or as a result of internal derangement of your TMJ joint(s). I suggest that you see a dentist with extensive training and experience with tmd (temporomandibular joint dysfunction).
